Training armour vs tournament armour — is there a real difference?

Lately I’ve been training more consistently, and something I noticed is how different people treat their gear depending on whether it’s for training or tournaments. When I first joined the team, I used the same armour everywhere, thinking it didn’t really matter. After a few months, the wear started showing, and I also felt more tired during long training sessions. Now I’m wondering if it actually makes sense to separate training armour from tournament armour, or if that’s just something veterans do once they’re deeper into the sport.

Honestly, separating them helped me a lot over time. I read some guides on https://medievalextreme.com/ about buhurt armour setups, and it clicked that training gear doesn’t always need to be as heavy or fancy as tournament pieces. I now use slightly lighter armour for weekly practices, which saves energy and reduces small injuries, while keeping my heavier, more reinforced kit for competitions. It also made maintenance easier, since my main buhurt armour stays in better condition and feels more reliable when it really matters.
