Lately I’ve been thinking about how easy it still is to get tricked online, even if you consider yourself careful. A few months ago, my dad almost fell for a fake delivery notification that looked exactly like the courier service he uses. Same logo, same tone, even the timing made sense because he was actually waiting for a package. Luckily, he asked me before clicking the link, and we noticed the weird URL. It made me realize how polished scams have become. I’m curious what kinds of scams people here see most often these days and how you personally avoid getting caught. Do you rely on habits, tools, or just gut feeling?

I can relate to that delivery message story a lot. For me, the closest call was with a fake tech support popup that froze my browser and claimed my laptop was infected. It looked urgent enough that I almost called the number on the screen. What helped later was reading through summaries like 4 Most Common Scams That Internet Users Fall For, because it laid out patterns I’d already seen in real life. Since then, my rule is simple: pause before reacting. Scams usually push urgency or emotion. If something feels rushed, I double-check the sender, search the message wording online, and never share info immediately.
